Venus Flytrap

Dragon Tears Lariat

In this class, you will use tubular peyote stitch, increasing to shape the beadwork perfectly to a large tear drop. A transition from one stitch to another will be learned to create the strap. Various embellishing techniques will be the finale to create this beautiful bracelet.

Right Angle Weave Sampler

Want to become familiar with right angle weave? This is a great class to take as you will be learning a right angle netting as well as a single bead right angle stitch. Once you become familiar with right angle weave there will be no stopping you from making all kinds of creations (like a bezel around a rivoli crystal). Russian beadlace

This bead work originated in Russia and consists of small components. The leaves and starflowers used in the piece can be used in a variety of projects, large or small!

The leaves are created using a pattern with stitches that increase on one side and decrease on the other side which gives the work some wonderful flexibility.

When the necklace is put together it creates a lacey, beautiful neckpiece. Huib is a nationally known bead instructor from the Bay area, we are excited to have him as an instructor! This is a don’t miss class!

Daisy Chain Necklace

Each of these little flowers is stitched separately; the heart in circular peyote stitch, the stem in Ndebele and the pedals embellish the daisy heart. Like the real thing, they are hooked into each other through a slit in the stem. This is a sweet neck and wrist piece you don’t want to pass up learning how to do from one of the Masters of Beadwork.

Ringed Nebula Bead

The Ring Nebula beaded bead is composed of small druks and seed beads to form a sparkly bead that can be strung on almost any chain. The finished bead is about an inch long and a quarter inch thick, with a hole wide enough to accommodate virtually any chain. The pattern is designed for intermediate beaders.

Seven Sisters Cluster

The Seven Sisters Bead Cluster resembles a glistening glass chrysanthemum measuring just over an inch in diameter. A variety of stitches are used to create this beautiful bead. The stitches used are right angle weave, peyote, fringe and a technique Gwen calls “lace overlay.” This class is for intermediate beaders. A web of beads on the back allows you to add a cord or chain to the finished cluster and wear it as a pendant. Add a pin back and it becomes a broach. A hair clip lets it adorn your hair.

Caged Wire Wrap

Build your skills and challenge your creativity. Using heavier gauges of wire, you will create original elements and practice good technique for bending 18, 16 and 14 gauge wire. Fairy Chrysalis

The rich organic form of the Fairy Chrysalis reminds us of a magical cocoon from which a winged fairy or a beautiful butterfly could emerge. Or perhaps it could be an ancient seed pod lost within an enchanted rainforest. In these instructions, we will show you how to make The Fairy Chrysalis, a pendant constructed entirely from beads and thread. This is a technique in off-the-loom, free-form bead weaving, using only a needle, thread, and beads. The finished pendant is 55mm by 25mm by 11mm and is sewn around a 40mm marquis bead.

Four of Spades beaded Bead

The Four of Spades Beaded Bead is similar to the Rosebud bead, only the core bead is 16mm round. Finished, this bead measures 19mm by 23mm, it’s a great focus bead in a necklace, or make some big earrings with them. The bead is made by creating fringe, with different sizes of seed beads, which is sewn together resulting in a beautiful beaded bead.

Knotted Necklace

Simply Elegant Earrings and Necklace

The Telstar bead pattern is suitable for beginning beaders. This pattern uses the original technique that Gwen and Florence call the Fringe Method. Bugle beads are used to form the diamond shaped sparkling beaded bead.

Double Rose Window

The Double Rose Window beaded bead is suitable for intermediate to advanced beaders. The finished bead is 3/4 of an inch in diameter and about a half of an inch from hole to hole. The bead is hollow, and the hole is large enough to accommodate a chord or a thin chain. The Double Rose Window pattern is 11 pages and includes 26 full color photographs and illustrations.

Bead Crochet Class

Kumihimo

St. Petersburg Chain

St. Petersburg Chain, also known as the Leningrad Chain, is an Old Russian pattern. It makes a feathery chain that is especially delicate if woven with small beads (such as 15s). This pattern makes a very nice lariat neck piece.

Chain Linked Fence Bracelet

In this class we will be creating squares (chain links) to fill up with beads of your choice. We will hammer and twist and link together wire for a fun bracelet that is open to much elaboration.

Sea Star Beaded Bead

The Sea Star Bead Cluster is suitable for experienced beaders. Measuring just over three centimeters (1 ¼ inches) in diameter, the Sea Star Bead Cluster incorporates a large array of bead sizes in a two-sided pendant. As one of the beaded beads in the Cluster Series, the Sea Star uses a three-dimensional variation of right angle weave over which a lacework of beads is added.

Beginning Herringbone Class

Herringbone stitch, also known as Ndebele is a fun, quick bead-weaving stitch that can be done in several variations (flat, tubular, circular). At the end of class you will have created a beautiful tubular herringbone bracelet with the seed beads of your choice.

Beginning Peyote

This class is for beginning bead weavers and will focus on the basic peyote stitch. The class will begin with an overview of beads and beading supplies. Even count peyote will be taught while creating a fun peyote ring. If students are interested odd count and tubular peyote will be practiced. Watch for other beginning classes being offered monthly! Wire Chain

“Wire Chain” is a great project to learn some basic wire work and come out with a fine chain link bracelet. The chain can be used as a bracelet or necklace. Small crystals or silver beads can be added to “bling” it up. Level: Beginner.

Diamond Net Beaded Bead

The Diamond Net Bead pattern is suitable for beginning beaders. This pattern uses the original technique that we call the Filled Net. The technique used is a variation of the common netting stitch. As usual, Gwen will be teaching a little "something" extra in this class. Level: Beginner.

Three Drop Earrings

Instructor: Gwen Fisher

The Three Drop Earrings class is suitable for intermediate beaders. The earrings measure approximately 5 centimeters long (2 inches), and provide a nice alternative to wire wrapped chandelier earrings. The earrings use a variation of the Double Outline Stitch. This stitch makes these earrings stiff enough to hold their shape and not bend as flat beadwork tends to do. Level: All.

Orchid Necklace

The orchid is a pendent, which can be suspended from a necklace of strung beads or from a twisted herringbone tubular necklace. Students will do two kinds of herringbone increases. They will do herringbone in the round and a ruffled edge. The orchid is even more luscious if crystals are used on the outside of the ruffle. Intermediate Level.

Polymer Clay Pendant

Learn stamping techniques accented with gold leaf, metallic powders and /or paint while creating pendants with matching earrings. The finished pieces can be used as a focal point for your beaded jewelry, hung from a multiple strand of beads, embellished with a variety of drop beads & charms. El Cubo

El Cubo is a very tactile beaded bead. The whole bead has a alluring springiness about it, and the small beads roll pleasingly between your finger tips. The finished cubo bead measures about 2 cm on a side. The hole through the faces of the cubo is large enough to accommodate a thin chain or chord. If strung on beading wire, the cubo can also be strung through the holes on the corners. Intermediate Level

Art Clay Silver Rings

Rings, glorious rings! In this workshop, we’ll explore the wonders of metal clay while making rings. Techniques taught will include the setting of sparkling, lab created gemstones that can withstand the heat of firing in a kiln, the creation and use of molds, other ways to achieve texture and methods to give your work a professional looking finish. This is a great introductory class or refresher for the more experienced student.

Art Clay Silver Beads II

Instructor: Jonna Faulkner

Students must have taken at least one class with Jonna Faulkner or Patricia Weilbacher before enrolling in this workshop. The Rings class will count toward this prerequisite.

In this workshop, we will explore ways of building hollow-form beads without resorting to any interior armature such as cork clay. One is a double-sided box bead: the other is a pearl in a 3-D circle. The finished look is extremely sophisticated. Techniques taught will include two ways of adding 24K gold to fired pieces, as well as a method for including a ½ drilled, ½ domed pearl in your work.

Queen Kar-Anne’s Lavaliere

This Victorian inspired necklace offers many wire working techniques. We’ll be wire-wrapping beads, flattening wire, and doing a lot of wire bending.
